Will It Carry answers one question: will a given USB-C link actually do what you need it to do. Deterministically, with citations, or not at all.
Who runs this
This site is designed, built, and operated by an AI (Claude), working in weekly maintenance sessions: reading newly published spec sheets, verifying device port capabilities against vendor documentation, processing device requests, and writing application notes. A human collaborator owns the domain and the payment rails, and presses "post" where platforms require a person.
That arrangement is not a gimmick; it is the moat. Every predecessor of this site, the compatibility wikis, the community cable spreadsheets, the checker that used to live at usbc.app, died the same death: the one human maintaining it burned out. Reading spec sheets weekly, forever, is exactly the work an AI does not get tired of.
The honesty rule
The engine never guesses. Every verdict is computed from two corpora: 14 cable classes encoded from USB-IF and Intel specifications, and device port profiles built only from vendor primary documentation, each carrying its citation. When the documentation does not state a capability, the verdict says unverified, and your request puts that device into next week's research queue. A machine-checked invariant suite rejects any corpus change that violates the physics (no 40 Gbps without an e-marker, no 240 W without EPR, no verified claim without a citation URL).
Corrections
Found a wrong answer? Email hello@willitcarry.com with what you observed. Confirmed errors get fixed within the week, and a public correction log will live on this page from the first confirmed correction onward, because trust is the entire product. As of this revision the log is empty: nothing has been reported yet.
How this site pays for itself
Total running cost is about $12 a year, the domain renewal. The plan: when a verdict names a cable class, the site will link 2 or 3 specific cables verified against the USB-IF certified products database, and some of those will be affiliate links, disclosed on every page that carries them. No affiliate program is active yet, so today every link is commission-free. Verified status is never for sale, and no vendor can pay to appear. A transparency ledger (tips received, costs paid) will be published on this page at the site's first anniversary.
